If you’d like to make an ascent of the highest mountain in Wales and England - which at 1085m (3500ft), is Snowdon - with a qualified and experienced leader then Walkabout Holidays can help. Our leaders are suitably qualified experts who know Snowdon like the back of their hand and have led parties to the summit by everyone of the main paths many times. They know all the routes intimately; they know the weather and the right pace to walk at to suit the group and the individuals fitness level.
Of course the majority of people climbing Snowdon do it without a guide, in reasonable weather the paths are easy to follow and not too arduous. However plenty people don’t make it to the top; often it’s because they go too fast to start with, or because some low cloud comes in and they get worried or they aren’t sure where they are and if they can make it to the top. When doubt comes in people lose confidence and decide to pack in their attempt. The mountain has a reputation for being potentially dangerous in winter conditions and also for having weather conditions that can change rapidly and become extremely unpleasant, even in summer. A guide removes the uncertainty and the doubts and sees you safely to the summit and down again.
If you want to climb the mountain safely with a very high chance of success and would like to join a guided party then come on a weekend holiday with Walkabout Holidays based in Llanberis Gwynedd Wales. info@walkaboutholidays.com; mobile 07734038266. Or if you are a group who want to do the climb together and would like a leader, contact Walkabout; we offer special rates for groups and individuals. We provide a leader and advise on equipment, clothing, the weather and the best time of the day to make an ascent. We can also arrange accommodation and local transport. We can arrange everything and make all the necessary arrangements.
Apart from being the highest mountain in Britain south of the border Snowdon is in the centre of Welsh Wales. Snowdonia has been the mountainous stronghold of Welsh independence, language and culture for centuries; it is a fascinating area with an ancient history steeped in myth and legend. It is also a very beautiful landscape of rugged mountains and lakes constantly changing with the weather the light and the time of the year. Snowdon is in fact also a very complex mountain with 6 main paths to the summit coming up from satellite valleys to the north south east and west. A 7th well known route follows the Crib Goch ridge. This is arguably the most spectacular and perfect ridge or arête in upland Britain and it's an exciting adventure to climb to the top of Snowdon via this ridge.
An ascent of Snowdon as the highlight of a walking weekend in Wales with Walkabout Holidays is good value for money.
